nztopomaps.com map tiles are now available as a map source in Mobile Atlas Creator (MOBAC). This means that you can save the NZTopo map tiles on to your smartphone or GPS device before heading out of cellphone signal and still access the NZTopo topographic maps.
MOBAC creates offline atlases for a number of different devices and mobile applications, with some more common ones listed below.
| Device | Application |
| iPhone / iPad / iPod | Galileo App |
| Android Devices | AndNav |
| Android Devices | BackCountry Navigator |
| Garmin GPS | Garmin Custom Maps |
| Windows CE / Windows Mobile | Maplorer |
Zoom Levels and Map Source

10 - 12, NZTopo250
6 - 9, Series 242 1:500,000
We tested Galileo with an iPhone and a 50km by 50km section of NZTopo in the Southland Area with great success, the stored tiles used 126mb of space, and we didn't get lost! The image to the left is a screenshot from an iPhone in flight mode using the Galileo app.
Note: MOBAC is designed for downloading sections of maps from online sources. It's very unlikely you will be able to download NZTopo tiles for the whole country as the complete dataset is larger than the capacity of most devices.
